I read in Glamour today about the hot new idea of matching your 'bling' to your nail polish. There was a picture of quite the gaudy cocktail ring and some matching raspberry nail polish. Wow, way to make me want to drive out and buy some raspberries at 7 at night.
It's something that I thought of a while ago, back when I got my gold class ring with my peridot birthstone, which is a light adorable shade of summery green, very matching to the August month-sake. We all have that moment where we see something in print or on the television, internet, wherever, that we thought of a while back but never said anything about, then we become sue-happy and declare that said source stole our brilliant idea.
Of course, not even my beloved OPI makes a matching peridot green shade, or any shade of green for that matter. It hasn't hit me until now that nobody should be wearing green nail polish in the first place with skin as pale as mine. Skin so pale, I look at Conan O'Brien and think he's looking pretty tan. Actually, it's not called a tan anymore it's a 'healthy summer glow'. Just like how 'used car' became 'certified pre-owned vehicle'.
Here's my vendetta of the day: 'artists' (are you really an artist if you don't write your own songs or compose them?) who in television or radio interviews tell us listeners all about how their new album is an expression of who they are at this milestone of a time in their lives. How the album speaks of higher meaning, how it's really a project, it's a work of musical, no - emotional!, meaning. Then, the VJ or DJ throws it over to their new smash hit about some loose damsel with a voluptuous rear end and the 'artist's new high end vehicle. If you have any song where the title needs to have '**'s in it on iTunes or you talk at all about any sort of well-endowed lady in your album, it's not a work of emotional release.
